What are the system requirements for Apteryx?
Apteryx is a uniquely flexible web application that supports the needs of medical/dental
organizations by providing access to clinical images from most any web-connected
device. The system requirements for Apteryx depend on how it will be used.
Image Viewing Requirements:
Apteryx uses a web-based interface to access and view patient images and studies in
commercially available, HTML5-compatible web browsers. The minimum system
requirements for viewing images are:
Microsoft Windows 8.1
Chrome, Edge or Firefox (latest versions)
4 GB RAM
Bandwidth Requirements:
Minimum: 20MB down / 10MB up
Recommended: 40MB down / 15MB up
Image Viewing and Capturing Requirements:
Apteryx also has the capability to interact with other applications on your local computer
through the Apteryx Browser Extension. The Apteryx Browser Extension is a two-part
component that a) detects Apteryx image-capture software installed on your local system
(such as Apteryx Online Capture, XrayVision, or XrayVision DCV) and b) enables your browser to
run that application to capture images. The minimum system requirements for viewing and
capturing images are:
- All of the system requirements for viewing images.
- ApteryxBridge – an application that runs on your local system and is responsible for locating and launching already installed software.
- The appropriate browser extension – which enables the browser to run an application on your computer.
-For Google Chrome, the extension is available from the Chrome Web Store
-For Microsoft Edge, the extension is available from the Microsoft Store
-For Mozilla Firefox, the extension is available as a Mozilla Add-On
There are additional system requirements for Apteryx image capture software. Please refer
to the XVCapture, Apteryx Imaging Product Suite, or XrayVision DCV system
requirements documents for these additional requirements.
3D Image Viewing Requirements:
Apteryx has an available add-on module, called Apteryx 3D, that enables dental practices
to query and access 3D cone beam CT images with Apteryx. The minimum system
requirements for retrieving and manipulating 3D images are:
- Google Chrome web browser
- Intel i3 CPU or higher
- 350MB free disk space
- 2GB RAM
- Graphics processor (1GB dedicated RAM) with DirectX10 or above
